Super Micro plans $7b fundraising for AI server growth
Super Micro Computer, a US-based server maker, said on June 9 it plans a US$7 billion equity financing package starting in July to help pay for hardware components.
The package includes a US$5 billion underwritten stock offering and a US$2 billion at-the-market program through JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and Citigroup. Its shares fell 9% in extended trading.
The company said it had received US$39 billion in AI server orders from more than 20 customers in recent weeks, roughly in line with its fiscal 2026 net sales outlook of US$38.9 billion to US$40.4 billion.
Its latest quarterly filing showed US$1.29 billion in cash and US$8.8 billion in bank debt and convertible notes as of March 31.
The filing also showed US$7.56 billion in net cash used in operating activities in the first nine months of fiscal 2026, largely due to growth in receivables and inventory.
Based on a US$25 billion market value, the fundraising equals about 28% of Super Micro’s market capitalization.
