Supabase faces partial block in India, access disrupted
Supabase, a San Francisco-based developer database platform founded in 2020, has been ordered blocked in parts of India under Section 69A of India’s Information Technology Act; the order was issued on February 24.
The Indian government has not publicly given a reason for the order.
Access has been patchy across networks, and Supabase acknowledged access issues on social media after users reported problems on multiple ISPs, including Reliance JioFiber.
Supabase suggested switching DNS settings or using a VPN as workarounds, but such steps are impractical for many users, sources said.
Raman Jit Singh Chima, Asia Pacific policy director at Access Now, said the block highlights risks developers face when essential platforms can suddenly become unavailable.
It is unclear how long the restrictions will last.
