Substack, a platform for independent writers, remains unprofitable despite its use by notable newsletter and blog creators.

Co-founder Hamish McKenzie said the company now focuses on growth over immediate profitability.

Recent growth strategies include Substack raising funds from writers and launching a service called Notes to compete with X, formerly known as Twitter.

It has also seen success with political content, such as Mehdi Hasan’s outlet, Zeteo, which generates significant revenue.

Substack reportedly invites more creators and influencers to expand its content scope beyond traditional news writing.
