Stripe eyes $106.7b valuation in VC share buyback

Stripe is in talks to buy back shares from venture capital investors at a US$106.7 billion valuation, according to Axios.

The payments company’s latest 409A valuation marks a rise from its previous US$95 billion peak before the pandemic and its US$50 billion low that followed.

It remains unclear how much stock will be repurchased or whether employees will be included in the offer, with negotiations described as “flexible” by a source.

Last year, Sequoia Capital, a longtime Stripe investor, purchased US$861 million in Stripe shares from its own limited partners at a US$70 billion valuation.

There is no indication that Stripe plans to go public in the near future.
