Strategy buys 20,356 bitcoins for $2b
Strategy, formerly known as MicroStrategy, has acquired 20,356 bitcoins between Feb. 18 and Feb. 23 for approximately US$2 billion.
This acquisition was reported in an 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Feb.24.
With this latest purchase, Strategy’s total bitcoin holdings reach 499,096 bitcoins, valued at over US$47 billion at the time of the filing.
On average, the firm has purchased its bitcoin at US$66,357 per coin, totaling about US$33.1 billion.
This represents over 2.3% of bitcoin’s capped supply of 21 million coins.
