Strategy bitcoin filing triggers Polymarket dispute
Strategy, formerly MicroStrategy, a US software company that became a large bitcoin holder, said in a June 1 filing that it sold bitcoin between May 26 and May 31.
The disclosure triggered a dispute on Polymarket over whether the sale counts for a prediction market with a May 31 deadline.
The May 31 contract was priced at 81% Yes and marked in review.
Yes holders say Strategy’s filing shows the sale happened before the deadline.
No holders say the sale was not publicly disclosed until the June 1 filing, after the cutoff.
About $14.65 million of the roughly $24.7 million traded across three related markets was tied to the May 31 contract.
Polymarket’s documentation says contested markets go through a proposal, challenge period, dispute stage, and final vote through UMA, the oracle protocol Polymarket uses to resolve ambiguous markets.
But the available rules do not clearly say how to treat filing evidence or disclosure timing when a deadline is close.
As a result, traders are disputing whether the market should be decided by when Strategy made the sale, when it disclosed the sale, or both.
