Stellantis halts full-size Ram EV pickup as demand weakens in US

Stellantis will stop developing a full-size battery-electric pickup for its Ram brand as demand for such vehicles weakens in North America.

The company said it is shifting focus and will rename its range-extended electric pickup to Ram 1500 REV, dropping its previous name, Ramcharger.

Stellantis, based in the Netherlands, owns Ram and several other automotive brands globally.

The Ram 1500 REV will use a range-extending powertrain, but additional specifications and release dates have not been disclosed.

The move comes as automakers adjust their EV strategies in response to changing market conditions.
