US startup Vultr to invest $1b in Ohio AI cluster with AMD chips

Vultr will invest over US$1 billion to launch an AI cluster at a new data center in Springfield, Ohio, using processors from AMD.

Vultr, a cloud infrastructure company based in West Palm Beach, Florida, said the facility will have 24,000 AMD Instinct MI355X chips in a 50-megawatt cluster.

The company expects the cluster to be operational by early 2026.

Vultr is financing the Ohio project by extending its credit line with a group of major US banks, including Bank of America, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, and Wells Fargo.
