Stargate, a collaboration between OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle, is reportedly scaling back its initial plans to build a small data center in Ohio by the end of the year.

The US$500 billion project, aimed at creating over 100,000 jobs, has faced delays due to disagreements over partnership terms, especially regarding site locations.

In a joint statement, the companies said they are working “with urgency on site assessments” and are advancing projects in various states.

Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison previously noted that the first data center linked to the project is already under construction in Texas.
