Starbucks names ex-Amazon exec Varadarajan as CTO

Starbucks has appointed Anand Varadarajan as its new executive vice president and chief technology officer, effective January 19.

Varadarajan joins the coffee chain after nearly 19 years at Amazon, where he most recently led technology and supply chain for the Worldwide Grocery Stores unit.

His previous experience includes roles at Oracle and several startups.

He will report directly to the Starbucks CEO and join the company’s executive leadership team.

Varadarajan holds degrees from the Indian Institute of Technology, Purdue University, and the University of Washington.
