Spotify program takes on YouTube with video podcast pay

Spotify is set to introduce a program to compensate podcast hosts for popular videos on its platform.

Starting January 2, 2025, this move aims to boost Spotify’s competition with YouTube in the video podcast market.

The “Partner Program” will initially be available in the US, UK, Australia, and Canada.

Creators can apply to monetize content based on viewer engagement rather than just ad revenue.

Premium subscribers will watch video podcasts ad-free, enhancing the user experience.
