Spark Capital leads $325m round for AI aviation startup ASI

Boston-based ASI, formerly Air Space Intelligence Inc, develops AI software for military logistics, airlines, and air traffic management.

It raised US$325 million in a series C led by Spark Capital at a US$3 billion valuation. Craft Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz also participated.

In June, ASI won a US$875 million Federal Aviation Administration contract to help modernize US air traffic management under Modern Skies, ahead of Palantir and Thales.

Its system uses data such as weather, flight paths, and controller staffing to predict congestion and recommend ways to reduce delays and cancellations.

The FAA began limited deployment around Washington in September. ASI plans to use the new funding for AI research, engineering hires, and new applications.

Separately, the FAA has published an AI safety assurance roadmap.
