🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ Industrial cybersecurity emerges as a high-growth market driven by converging risks
Steryon’s funding reflects broader growth in the Industrial Control Systems (ICS) security market, which is projected to expand from $17.8 billion in 2023 to $25.1 billion by 2028, a compound annual growth rate of 7.1% 1.
This growth is fueled by the increasing convergence of traditional IT networks with operational technology (OT) systems, creating new vulnerabilities as previously isolated industrial systems become exposed to sophisticated cyber threats.
Governments worldwide are responding by enacting specific regulations for industrial cybersecurity 1, creating both compliance challenges and market opportunities for solutions like Steryon’s that automate regulatory adherence.
The funding aligns with a trend seen across the cybersecurity landscape, where specialized startups addressing critical infrastructure protection are attracting investment despite the overall tightening of venture capital markets.
For industrial organizations, the stakes of cybersecurity failures extend beyond data breaches to potential physical safety consequences and operational disruptions, making specialized solutions increasingly essential.
2️⃣ AI adoption accelerates in OT security despite traditional industry conservatism
Research shows 80% of industrial cybersecurity professionals now believe AI benefits outweigh potential risks in securing operational technology environments 2, marking a significant shift in an industry historically cautious about new technologies.
