Spanish AI startup Maisa raises $25m seed round

Maisa AI, a startup with headquarters in Valencia and San Francisco, has raised US$25 million in a seed round led by Creandum.

The company offers Maisa Studio, a platform that allows enterprises to deploy and train digital workers using natural language.

Maisa AI says its technology aims to address issues with generative AI in the workplace, such as unreliable results and lack of transparency.

Other investors in the round include Forgepoint Capital International and previous backers NFX and Village Global.

The company plans to expand its team from 35 to 65 employees by Q1 2026 to support growth and demand from its waiting list.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ Enterprise AI failures reflect deeper organizational readiness challenges

The 95% pilot failure rate highlights a broader pattern of AI adoption struggles across enterprises.

Research shows that only 8% of firms currently engage in core AI practices that support widespread adoption, indicating that most organizations lack the foundational capabilities needed for successful AI implementation1.

The primary barriers include insufficient clean data, limited processing power, and a critical shortage of skilled data scientists, challenges that go far beyond choosing the right AI model1.

This context explains why Maisa’s focus on accountability and structured processes through their “chain-of-work” approach addresses fundamental enterprise needs rather than just technical capabilities.

The company’s client base in highly regulated sectors like banking and automotive demonstrates that organizations with strict compliance requirements are prioritizing reliability over rapid deployment.

2️⃣ Gartner recognition signals maturation of enterprise AI agent market

Maisa’s inclusion in Gartner’s 2025 Hype Cycles alongside Google and Amazon represents a significant validation of the enterprise AI agent space2.

This recognition is particularly notable as Maisa is the first Spanish startup to be included in these influential reports, suggesting that the market for accountable AI agents has reached sufficient maturity for analyst coverage2.
