SpaceX’s Starship rocket explodes during test in Texas
A SpaceX Starship rocket exploded on June 18, 2025, during routine testing at the company’s Starbase facility in Texas.
Local authorities reported that the rocket “suffered a catastrophic failure,” but no injuries were reported.
The incident occurred at 11 p.m. local time. SpaceX confirmed that “a safety clear area around the site was maintained throughout the operation and all personnel are safe and accounted for.”
An investigation into the cause of the explosion is underway. SpaceX had anticipated another Starship launch by the end of June.
