SpaceX plans record $75b IPO, source says
SpaceX plans to price its initial public offering at US$135 a share and sell 555.6 million shares to raise US$75 billion, according to a source familiar with the matter.
The deal would value the rocket and satellite communications company at about US$1.75 trillion.
If completed at that size, it would surpass Saudi Aramco’s 2019 initial public offering as the largest ever by proceeds raised. SpaceX’s roadshow is set to begin on Thursday, June 4.
SpaceX is also considering reserving as much as 30% of the offering for individual investors and using the proceeds to expand AI computing resources and its satellite network, the source said.
Musk would be required to hold his SpaceX shares for 366 days after the initial public offering, the source added.
That planned spending aligns with SpaceX’s current scale.
Its prospectus shows Starlink generated US$11.39 billion in revenue last year, while SpaceX’s first-quarter capital spending reached US$10.1 billion, including US$7.7 billion for AI.
