SpaceX IPO may fuel AI satellite expansion: report
SpaceX’s upcoming initial public offering could draw more investor attention to satellite supply chains.
TrendForce, a Taiwan-based market research firm, said momentum from the listing could lift global satellite industry output to US$447 billion by 2027, implying annual growth of about 14%.
SpaceX has formally filed for an IPO. TrendForce said its market outlook covers satellite broadband, direct-to-cell connectivity, AI space computing, and space-based solar power.
TrendForce said SpaceX’s push into direct-to-cell services and orbital computing could benefit suppliers of antenna modules, radio frequency front-end modules, printed circuit boards, and beamforming integrated circuits.
The research firm added that suppliers of solar cells, gallium arsenide and gallium nitride materials, high-temperature alloys, titanium alloys, precision-cast components, and industrial gases could also gain from the expansion.
Starlink said direct-to-cell service is now available. SpaceX has also said orbital data centers could begin as early as 2028, though larger satellite constellations still require regulatory approval.
