Southeast Asia fintech funding jumps to $2.3b: report

Southeast Asian fintech companies raised US$2.3 billion in the first nine months of 2026, up 206% from US$748 million a year earlier, according to India-based market intelligence firm Tracxn. The number of funding rounds, however, fell to 42 from 75.

Four rounds of US$100 million or more accounted for 86% of total funding. Ant International’s US$1.2 billion series A was the largest, showing capital was concentrated in a few deals.

A Tracxn-linked post highlighted record seed funding in the first half of 2026. However, Tracxn’s report for the first nine months of 2026 showed seed funding fell 46% year on year to US$53.3 million.

Grab announced on September 15 that it would acquire a majority stake in Atome Financial for US$1.49 billion. The region recorded no initial public offerings during the nine-month period.

Singapore-based fintech companies raised US$1.9 billion, followed by companies based in West Jakarta with US$270 million.
