South Korea boosts AI, semiconductor ties with Israel, Japan
South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy is seeking to enhance technological cooperation with Israel and Japan, focusing on AI and semiconductors.
On Monday, Je Kyung-hee, Director General for Technology Policy, conducted a virtual meeting with Alon Stopel, Israel’s chief scientist at the innovation ministry.
They reviewed progress in joint research projects under the Korea-Israel Industrial R&D Foundation, established in 2001.
This foundation allocates US$8 million annually to support collaborative projects and is currently funding 16 projects, with seven more planned for this year.
In a separate meeting in Seoul, Je met with Jingo Kikukawa, Japan’s Director General for Innovation and Environment at the industry ministry.
Their discussions centered on the importance of bilateral cooperation in adapting to evolving industrial technologies.
