Sonyโs blockchain, Plume partner on tokenized yields
Blockchain platform Plume has partnered with Soneium, an Ethereum Layer-2 blockchain developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs.
This collaboration aims to integrate real-world asset staking and yield opportunities within the Soneium ecosystem via Plumeโs interoperability layer, SkyLink.
SkyLink enables the secure streaming of real-world asset value and yield across blockchains.
With this integration, Soneium users will have access to asset-backed yield products, including tokenized US Treasuries and private credit, directly from the Plume chain.
Soneium, supported by Sony Block Solutions Labsโa joint initiative of Sony Group Corporation and Startale Groupโfocuses on consumer and creator adoption in Web3.

๐ง Food for thought
1๏ธโฃ RWA tokenization represents blockchainโs evolution from speculative assets to traditional finance
The Plume-Soneium partnership highlights blockchainโs progression from primarily speculative cryptocurrencies toward integrating traditional financial assets.
The evolution follows a clear pattern: Bitcoin (2009) introduced digital currency, Ethereum (2015) enabled programmable contracts, and now RWA platforms are bringing established financial products onchain1.
Market projections emphasize this transitionโs importance, with the global asset tokenization market expected to reach $4 trillion by 2025 and the overall blockchain market growing from $7 billion in 2022 to $94 billion by 2027, representing a 66.2% annual growth rate23.
Tokenizing assets like U.S. Treasuriesโmentioned in the Plume announcementโis particularly significant as it bridges the gap between DeFiโs innovation and the reliability of government-backed securities, potentially accelerating institutional adoption.
2๏ธโฃ Cross-chain infrastructure emerges as critical for scaling tokenized real-world assets
Plumeโs SkyLink interoperability layer addresses one of the fundamental limitations that has restricted RWA adoption in blockchain ecosystems.
Historically, blockchain systems operated as isolated networksโBitcoin couldnโt interact with Ethereum, and vice versaโcreating technological silos that limited growth and liquidity4.
Asset management particularly benefits from cross-chain functionality, as it enables liquidity to flow more efficiently across different blockchain environments, unlocking the projected market value of tokenized assets that industry leaders predict could reach trillions of dollars within a decade5.
