Sony Block Solutions Labs (BSL) has launched its public blockchain platform, Soneium, on the mainnet. This announcement follows the platform’s testnet deployment in August 2024.

Built on Optimism’s OP Stack and Superchain, Soneium operates as an Ethereum-based Layer 2 blockchain.

The testnet has recorded over 50 million transactions and 15.4 million active wallet addresses.

The platform focuses on improving creators’ rights and ensuring fair value distribution between creators and fans.

Sony BSL plans to explore additional use cases and frameworks to enhance both digital and physical user experiences on the platform.
