SoftBank’s revenue hits $22.1b in H1 fiscal 2025

SoftBank reported record results for the six months ending September 30, 2025, with revenue up 7.9% year-on-year to ¥3.4 trillion (US$22.14 billion)

Operating income climbed 7.3% to ¥628.9 billion (US$4.10 billion), and net income jumped 20.8% to ¥475.7 billion (US$3.10 billion).

Net income attributable to owners reached ¥348.8 billion (US$2.27 billion), up 7.7% from the previous year.

All business segments reported revenue increases, including its Distribution, Consumer, Financial, Enterprise, and Media and ecommerce divisions.

The company cited the higher net income to increased operating profit and lower income tax, along with the absence of a prior-year loss related to equity investments.

SoftBank forecasts revenue of ¥6.7 trillion (US$43.63 billion) and net income of ¥540 billion (US$3.52 billion) for the fiscal year ending March 2026.

The company declared a second-quarter dividend of ¥4.30 (US$0.028) per share after a 10-for-1 stock split implemented in October 2024.

Carrier gains raise questions about Japan’s mobile market maturity

  • SoftBank Corp. grew revenue 7.9% to ¥3.4 trillion. Consumer rose 3.4% to ¥1.5 trillion on higher goods sales and a small lift in mobile.
  • Public filings skip telecom basics such as Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) trends and subscriber churn rates (the share of customers leaving). They also omit whether growth came from price or volume.
  • Management kept full-year guidance after a strong first half (H1). That stance hints at headwinds or caution on momentum through fiscal year-end.

SoftBank’s distribution network speeds SaaS and cloud entry into Japan

  • SB C&S, SoftBank Corp.’s IT distribution arm handling the “largest number of items in Japan,” became Smartsheet’s first distributor in Japan and maintains partnerships with Microsoft and Zoom through partner programs 1234. Smartsheet is a work management and project collaboration platform.
  • B2B software vendors can ride gains in the Distribution segment. SB C&S joined the Smartsheet Aligned partner program, a reseller and services ecosystem. Smartsheet offers Japanese language and local currency support, which helps enterprise rollouts 2.
  • Cloud and security vendors can test CAS Connect from SB C&S 5. The service uses a multi-tier sales model. It bundles secure, low-latency, data-only Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) connectivity with core cloud and Software as a Service (SaaS) offers. That package targets enterprise buyers.
