SoftBank, Oracle partner on Japan’s sovereign cloud, AI services
Oracle and SoftBank are partnering to launch secure, sovereign cloud and AI services for organizations in Japan.
SoftBank, a telecom and IT firm based in Japan, will introduce its Cloud PF Type A platform using Oracle Alloy in April 2026 for eastern Japan, with a western Japan launch planned for October 2026.
The new service aims to support sectors requiring strict data governance by providing access to over 200 Oracle cloud and AI services, all hosted within Japanese data centers.
SoftBank will also deploy network redundancy, business continuity features, and encryption key management by combining Oracle and its own security tools.
Cloud PF Type A is expected to support high-speed computation and generative AI workloads, addressing rising demand for sovereign data solutions in the country.
Both companies said their collaboration will help meet Japan’s growing data sovereignty and digital transformation needs.
