Mastodon, the open-source social media platform, has launched in-app donation prompts as a new fundraising method.

These banners will appear in its Android and iOS apps, initially targeting users on Mastodon’s own servers, Mastodon.social and Mastodon.online.

The feature will only be visible to accounts older than four weeks and can be easily dismissed, according to Mastodon.

The organization has reported that it will not repeatedly prompt users for donations.
