Snowflake expands AI tools as enterprise adoption grows
Snowflake expanded its AI products, Snowflake Intelligence and Cortex Code, as more companies move AI from pilots to production and seek tools that work across enterprise systems.
For Snowflake Intelligence, the update adds connectors for Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Jira, Salesforce, and Slack, along with new app and research features.
For developers, Cortex Code now supports AWS Glue, Databricks, and Postgres.
Snowflake is also rolling out a VS Code extension, a Claude Code plugin, and a software kit for Python and TypeScript.
Snowflake said more than 9,100 customers use its AI products weekly.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Snowflake aims to sit at the center of enterprise AI
- New connectors and developer tools move Snowflake toward its goal of serving as a “single control center for agentic AI systems,” or AI systems that can act across business software with limited human input 1.
- Snowflake sees the main hurdle for enterprise AI as giving models business context plus access to governed data, or company information managed under internal rules and controls 1.
- That approach targets a widespread problem. A July 2025 Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) report found 95% of organizations had yet to get any return on their AI investments 1.
- Snowflake has scale behind that push, with 733 customers contributing more than US$1 million in trailing 12-month product revenue as of Jan. 31, 2026 2.
AI features are becoming standard across data platforms
- Snowflake’s new features matter to its users, though they do not stand out as exclusive in the market 1.
- Databricks, a data and AI platform company, offers a similar AI coding agent called Genie Code and a VS Code extension 1.
- These releases fit a wider race among data platform vendors to build larger AI ecosystems that help attract and keep users 1.
- That competition has added pressure to Snowflake’s stock. Some investment firms cut their price targets amid weaker software valuations and concern about AI disruption across the sector 3.
