South Korean telecom operator SK Telecom reported Q2 2026 revenue of 4.4 trillion won (US$3.05 billion) and operating income of 566 billion won (US$396 million) on August 5.

The results were supported by higher AI data center sales and an easier comparison with the year-earlier quarter.

Revenue rose 0.5% year on year, operating income jumped 67.3%, and net income reached 466 billion won (US$326 million).

SK Telecom said the year-earlier quarter included one-off costs such as customer USIM replacements and compensation for retail store losses linked to a cybersecurity incident.

AI data center revenue rose 92.5% to 136.2 billion won (US$95.3 million).

The company said SK Hyper, its wholly owned AI data center development unit, is targeting a first-phase combined capacity of 5 gigawatts, with centers due to come online in phases from 2029.

SK Telecom also said it added mobile subscribers and kept its quarterly dividend at 830 won (US$0.58) per share for a second straight quarter.

The cybersecurity breach has also led to a record US$96.9 million privacy fine and government-mandated fee waivers for some users switching carriers.
