SK Telecom advances chip factory digital twins with Nvidia
SK Telecom, a South Korean telecom and AI company, said on June 1 it had applied digital twin technology at SK hynix’s semiconductor fabs using Nvidia Omniverse libraries.
The company also developed “Agentic Digital Twin Modeling” with the Nvidia Agent Toolkit to automate the processing of large-scale 3D manufacturing data for digital twin environments.
It said commercialization will proceed in phases as SK hynix works toward an autonomous fab by 2030.
SK hynix said the effort was meant to expand capacity and improve productivity at existing fabs as demand for AI chips rises.
Digital twins let manufacturers test layouts and process changes in software before altering live production, helping reduce trial and error in complex semiconductor fabs.
SK Telecom also said it plans to expand its enterprise and public sector business, and broader SK manufacturing AI efforts are aimed at serving external organizations beyond SK Group affiliates.
