SK hynix reviews ChatGPT, Copilot for wider employee use

South Korean memory chipmaker SK hynix is reviewing Microsoft 365 Copilot and ChatGPT Enterprise for broader internal use.

CEO Kwak No-jung said that the company would gradually introduce external AI, starting with work unrelated to national core technologies.

This would expand SK hynix’s current setup. The company uses internal AI services based on open-source generative AI models.

It is also considering broader use of external tools in functions including research and development, and data analysis.

The restriction reflects South Korea’s protections for industrial technology.

The move follows a policy shift at Samsung Electronics, which had previously limited employees to an internal AI model. Samsung recently introduced external services including ChatGPT, Gemini Enterprise, and Claude to its Device eXperience division.
