SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won met with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman in San Francisco earlier this month to discuss potential collaborations in AI.

The meeting, held at OpenAI’s headquarters, marked their first encounter since a private workshop in Seoul last February.

Though details remain undisclosed, talks likely involved SK’s push to enhance the AI semiconductor ecosystem and infrastructure.

Other discussion points reportedly included SK hynix’s high-bandwidth memory supply and SK Telecom’s AI data center efforts.

Chey also extended an invitation to Altman for the APEC CEO Summit scheduled for October 2025 in Gyeongju, South Korea.
