Singtel said on June 10 that RE:AI, part of its Digital InfraCo unit, has partnered with Weka, a US-based data platform company, to deliver sovereign AI infrastructure across ASEAN.

The companies did not disclose financial terms, rollout timelines, or target customers.

The deal builds on Singtel’s existing AI infrastructure efforts. Digital InfraCo was formed in 2023 to combine regional data centers, connectivity, and orchestration.

RE:AI is Singtel’s sovereign AI cloud platform designed to run AI workloads across clouds while letting customers control where data is stored and processed.

Weka contributes a software-defined data platform for accelerated computing that can run workflows across the AI data pipeline on one platform, including high-performance storage for graphics processing unit-heavy AI workloads.

Sovereign AI generally goes beyond data residency by keeping data, models, and AI operations within local legal and compliance controls.

The partnership follows Singtel’s 2024 plan with Nvidia to bring sovereign AI to Southeast Asia, amid broader regional investment in telecom-led AI infrastructure.
