Singtel profit rises 21%, beats estimates

Singapore Telecommunications (Singtel), a Singapore-based telecom operator, said its first-quarter underlying net profit rose 21% to S$831 million (US$649.22 million), for the three months ended June 30. That was up from S$686 million (US$536 million) a year earlier.

The result beat the Visible Alpha consensus estimate of S$746.1 million (US$583 million).

Singtel said the increase was driven by strong contributions from its regional associates and businesses, including India’s Bharti Airtel, Thailand’s AIS, NCS, Optus, and Digital InfraCo. NCS was a significant contributor to growth, with EBIT rising 29%.

In its fiscal year 2026 first-half disclosures, Singtel said underlying net profit is the basis for core dividends and is distinct from statutory net profit. The latter includes exceptional gains such as a partial Airtel stake sale and the Intouch-Gulf merger.
