Singtel, Optus CEOs to meet Australian minister after fatal outage
SingTel’s top executives will meet Australia’s communications minister in Sydney next week following a major Optus network outage that has been linked to four deaths.
SingTel, based in Singapore, owns Optus, Australia’s second-largest phone company.
Group CEO Yuen Kuan Moon, Optus CEO Stephen Rue, and chairman John Arthur are set to attend the meeting.
The outage, which occurred during a network upgrade earlier this month, left customers unable to reach emergency services for nearly 13 hours.
Authorities have warned Optus could face significant financial penalties over the incident.
