Singtel confirms talks to buy SG data center operator, shares jump
Singtel said it is in talks as part of a consortium regarding ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC), after media reports of advanced discussions about a possible acquisition of about 80% of the company involving private equity firm KKR.
STT GDC, a Singapore-based data centre operator founded in 2014, is majority owned by ST Telemedia, which is wholly owned by Temasek.
KKR currently holds a 14% stake in STT GDC, while Singtel owns over 4%, after both invested US$1.8 billion in June 2024.
Singtel said there is no certainty the discussions will lead to a binding agreement and said it will announce any material updates.
Singtel shares rose 4.7% to S$4.71 (US$3.61) in early trading on November 7, after closing up 5.4% the day before.
