🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Leadership transition leaves policy continuity questions unanswered

  • Ng Cher Pong becomes Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) CEO on 1 November 2025, with 30 years in public service 1
  • At National Library Board (NLB), he led the Libraries and Archives Blueprint 2025, NLB’s strategic plan 1. That plan used generative AI for immersive experiences. The announcement did not detail experience in telecom infrastructure, data center policy, or SME digitalization, which Lew had stressed 1
  • IMDA’s Board page was last updated on 10 July 2024 2. The Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI) announcement did not mention Board changes 1
  • SkillsFuture Singapore, the national workforce skills agency, had Ng as founding CEO 1. That background could tilt IMDA’s digital economy work toward workforce development and training

Active funding windows create immediate opportunities across media and digital programmes

  • Call-for-Proposals for 2025 long-form content grants is open with posted deadlines 3. Media companies and creators across film, TV, or digital series can apply during the transition
  • Digital for Life Fund, Singapore’s digital inclusion effort, accepts applications through 31 December 2025 4. Technology and community partners can team up on projects for seniors and low-income youth
  • Eligible media professionals and Singapore-registered media entities can tap the Overseas Development Grant for up to S$50,000 per application to join approved international platforms 5
  • A 10Gbps Nationwide Broadband Network grant sets aside S$100 million for infrastructure and equipment upgrades 6. Network operators and equipment suppliers can pursue this regardless of CEO changes
