Singapore-based biotech startup Anomaly Bio has raised US$2.6 million in pre-seed funding led by Pebblebed Ventures, with participation from investors including Akshay Kothari, Sean Hunt, Eben Bayer, and Mithun Sacheti.

The startup plans to use the new funding to establish a laboratory and pilot-scale facilities in Singapore, and expand its R&D team.

Anomaly Bio engineers microbes to produce bio-based ingredients for industries such as crop protection, nutrition, and personal care.

The company was founded by Armaan Dhanda and Samyak Baid, who met at the National University of Singapore in 2022.

Anomaly Bio previously received over US$120,000 in non-dilutive awards from MIT’s WFA Prize 2025 and the WTFund Fellowship, as well as support from NUS and Mars Petcare.

Anomaly Bio aims to address ingredient supply chain challenges by developing scalable biomanufacturing methods.
