Singapore space startup OculloSpace launches rocket

OculloSpace, a Singapore-based space technology company, said it flew its first experimental sounding rocket from Etlaq Spaceport in Duqm, Oman, on October 1, 2026.

The rocket, AZAD “The Dreamer”, reached an apogee of 10 km.

The Karman X1 mission was carried out with Stellar Kinetics MCT, an Oman-based aerospace company focused on rocket development and launch operations.

OculloSpace said both rocket stages completed their burns, and telemetry was received throughout the flight, though the upper-stage parachute did not deploy.

OculloSpace said the self-funded program has been in development for about two years.

The company is now working on AZAD-2, which targets 100 km, an altitude widely treated as the conventional edge of space.

Oman also set rules for space activities. Etlaq, Oman’s commercial spaceport operator, also signed a letter of intent with a foreign partner.
