Singapore medtech firm Biobot raises $15.4m for US push
Singapore-based medtech firm Biobot Surgical, which develops robot-assisted systems for prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment, said on June 29 it raised S$20 million (US$15.4 million) in a financing round led by ClavystBio, alongside ZIG Ventures.
Biobot said the funding will support the international expansion of its Mona Lisa prostate cancer platform and its US commercialization strategy.
The company also said it will work with Fogarty Innovation on US commercialization.
Mona Lisa 2.0 received US Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance in March 2022 for transperineal prostate biopsy and prostate cancer ablation.
The round follows the S$24 million (US$18.5 million) series B round Biobot closed in March 2024.
The company said Mona Lisa combines robotic needle guidance with magnetic resonance imaging-ultrasound image fusion, and more than 80 systems have been deployed globally, supporting more than 30,000 patients.
Biobot’s focus on transperineal biopsy comes as European guidelines favored that approach over transrectal biopsy because of the lower risk of infection.
