Singapore fintech firm M-DAQ expands into Vietnam payments

Singapore-headquartered fintech group M-DAQ Global, which provides foreign exchange and cross-border payment services, said on July 7 it signed definitive agreements to integrate with Vietnam-based METech.

METech is a fintech group that is the majority shareholder of licensed payments provider PayME.

M-DAQ said the deal expands its ASEAN cross-border payments network and gives it regulated local infrastructure for direct collection and payout in Vietnamese dong.

The move follows M-DAQ’s 2024 acquisition of Easy Pay Transfers, licensed under Malaysia’s Money Services Business Act 2011. Its 2022 acquisition of Wallex, which held licenses in Singapore, Indonesia, and Hong Kong.

Vietnam’s digital payments transaction value was nearly US$24 billion in 2024, making it Southeast Asia’s fourth-largest digital payments market, according to Stripe.
