Singapore ensures compliance amid DeepSeek-Nvidia probe

Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) addressed concerns about whether DeepSeek accessed Nvidia chips restricted under United States export controls through intermediaries in the country.

Nvidia, which derives about 22% of its revenue from Singapore, clarified that most shipments tied to Singapore revenue were sent elsewhere, and there is no evidence that DeepSeek received restricted chips from within Singapore.

The MTI reaffirmed Singapore’s commitment to international law and compliance with US export controls, emphasizing that strict measures are in place to ensure compliance.

It said that customs and law enforcement agencies are actively cooperating with their US counterparts to address potential violations.

The ministry pledged firm actions against individuals or companies found breaching these rules.
