Singapore, CuspAI launch AI materials partnership
Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research, or A*STAR, entered a five-year partnership with CuspAI to use AI and autonomous labs to speed the discovery and validation of new materials.
A*STAR said the effort aims to cut the process from years to months, with initial projects under way in semiconductors, carbon capture, and battery materials.
CuspAI, a Cambridge, UK-based materials discovery startup founded in 2024 by Dr Chad Edwards and Professor Max Welling.
The company said it had raised over $650 million from investors including Temasek, Samsung, and Hyundai Motor Group.
A*STAR also said it is a founding member of CuspAI’s AI Materials Foundry, which the startup describes as a network of more than 45 partners across industry, labs, data, and computing, including Nvidia, Meta, and Hyundai Motor Group.
