The Singapore Food Agency on August 4 approved Aleph Farms’ cultivated beef product for sale in Singapore, giving the Israel-based cellular agriculture company a second market after it was approved in January 2024 in Israel.

Aleph Farms remains the only company with regulatory approval to sell cultivated beef worldwide.

The approved product, Cultivated Thin-Cut Steak, combines cultivated beef cells with a plant protein base.

Aleph Farms said its Asia-Pacific plans are supported by a manufacturing partnership with Singapore-based Cell Agritech, which will provide scale-up infrastructure and facilities ready for regulatory requirements.

The approval does not mean an immediate broad rollout.

Aleph Farms said it aims to launch by 2027 with restaurant partners in Singapore and Israel after further scale-up.

The company has also filed in Switzerland as it seeks approval in more markets.

Singapore was the first country to approve cultivated meat for human consumption and imports more than 90% of its food, making food security and supply resilience a policy focus.
