Singapore startup MarsLab enters AI chip infrastructure race
MarsLab Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based company that builds AI inference infrastructure, said on 28 May it had outlined a roadmap for enterprise and edge AI deployment as Southeast Asia’s AI infrastructure sector remains relatively underdeveloped compared with larger markets in Asia.
The company said it plans to begin with system validation and commercial deployments before potentially moving into self-designed AI chips in the future.
MarsLab said its early platform would be used to test customer deployment needs, software behavior, and operational requirements before expanding into broader AI infrastructure development.
CEO Zhongwei Liao said company is focusing on real-world deployment and partnership as it expands its presence in Singapore and across Southeast Asia’s semiconductor and AI industry.
AI chip and core AI infrastructure startups in Asia still cluster outside Southeast Asia, suggesting the region is still at an early stage in building its own AI hardware ecosystem.
