Singapore AI biotech startup ChemT raises $5m
Singapore-based ChemT Biotechnology, an AI biotech startup focused on biomanufacturing, has raised US$4 million seed round led by Wavemaker Ventures with Seeds as a co-investment partner.
The latest funding bring ChemT’s total funding to date to US$5 million, including a previous US$1 million angel investment.
The AI biotech startup is building software designed to improve biologics manufacturing.
The fund will support the expansion of its AI and experimental infrastructure.
Other investors included Wavemaker 360 Health, Draper University Ventures, and Temasek Life Sciences Accelerator.
ChemT said it is building AI for chemistry, manufacturing, and controls. Its CelMo virtual cell platform is designed to simulate how cells respond to manufacturing conditions, genetic changes, and other stresses to improve biologics production.
The company said the platform increased antibody output by 50% and cut production timelines by 40% in Chinese hamster ovary, or CHO, cells.
ChemT also said its Chemplify product delivered 50% faster T-cell development, 3x scalability, 60% lower costs, and 10x higher cell expansion yield. The company said manufacturers still face delays, manual processes, and high costs in cell therapy production.
