Shein faces EU probe over alleged childlike sex doll listings

The European Union has initiated a formal investigation into Shein, a Chinese fast-fashion retailer, over potential breaches of digital laws, including the sale of products resembling childlike sex dolls.

The European Commission will examine Shein’s systems for preventing illegal sales, content moderation, and the transparency of its product-recommendation algorithms.

The investigation follows a report last year that Shein sold childlike sex dolls, which the company said it removed and banned globally.

The EC also expressed concerns about Shein’s platform design, including its use of gamification and reward programs, which may influence user engagement.
