US initial public offerings (IPOs) and other US share sales, excluding special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs) and similar vehicles, reached US$251 billion by June 26, based on Bloomberg data.

That surpassed the previous first-half record set in 2021.

SpaceX raised US$86.2 billion in the largest IPO on record, while Alphabet raised US$85 billion in the year’s biggest equity deal outside IPOs.

Separately, Alphabet said its fundraising plan included public offerings and a US$10 billion private investment to expand AI data centers and computing capacity.

The total is broader than IPOs alone because share sales can also include follow-on offerings, block trades, and other equity sales.

Newly listed US companies, excluding SPACs, were up nearly 16% on average this year. Bankers at Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan, and Barclays expected more deals, including a possible Anthropic transaction as soon as October.

Anthropic reportedly filed confidentially for an IPO, though the price, size, and timing remain undecided.

Some companies may move offerings into the third quarter as investors watch Federal Reserve decisions and the November US midterm elections.
