SG’s MetaComp launches AI agent framework for finance

MetaComp launched the StableX Know Your Agent framework to govern AI agents used in regulated payments compliance and wealth workflows.

The framework covers agent identity, permissions, monitoring, audit trails, and agent-to-agent interactions and was designed with guidance from Singapore IMDA and FATF Travel Rule principles.

MetaComp said the framework is the first of its kind published by a licensed financial institution, and it is open for use by financial institutions, regulators, and network partners.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

The framework fills gaps in crypto compliance tools

  • MetaComp moved into AI governance after finding a weakness in digital asset compliance.
  • Its review of more than 7,000 transactions found that using one blockchain analytics tool can leave a false clean rate as high as 24.55%. That can cause financial institutions to miss some high risk transactions or exposure indicators 1.
  • In response, MetaComp built its Web2.5 VisionX Engine, which screens activity in parallel across more than four independent blockchain analytics vendors 1.
  • That setup, combined through a proprietary algorithm, cuts the false clean rate to ≤0.24% 1.
  • AgentX turns MetaComp’s regulated financial capabilities into downloadable financial Skills. It starts with Claude, Anthropic’s AI model, with other models to follow. It includes the Web2.5 VisionX Engine for anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT). The Know Your Agent framework is meant to govern AI agents and support agentic Know Your Transaction capabilities 1.

Building guardrails for agentic finance

  • Know Your Agent marks a move beyond transaction checks. MetaComp wants governance standards for autonomous AI agents that can initiate payments, manage treasury, and run compliance workflows 1.
  • MetaComp uses a platform-to-business/partners-to-clients (P2B2C) model, which means it reaches end customers through business and partner networks 2.
  • Recent funding of US$35 million from investors including Alibaba will help expand that network across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America 3.
  • The aim is a standard architecture where AI agents use downloadable financial Skills. That would make cross-border payments plus treasury management governed, auditable, and compliant from the start 1.
