Singapore announced updates to its large language model, MERaLiON, at the ATxSummit 2025.

Developed by the A*STAR Institute for Infocomm Research and supported by IMDA, MERaLiON now includes enhanced multilingual processing and emotional intelligence.

It supports languages such as Malay, Tamil, Thai, Bahasa Indonesia, and Vietnamese, in addition to English, Mandarin, and Singlish.

To encourage adoption, the MERaLiON Consortium was launched.

This consortium unites industry players and institutions including HTX, DBS Bank, Grab, and Microsoft Singapore.

Since its initial release in December 2024, MERaLiON has been downloaded over 90,000 times globally.
