SG wireless startup Transcelestial bags $9.7m to expand in Japan

Transcelestial has raised an additional US$9.7 million, bringing its total funding to US$34.7 million, to support the deployment of its laser communications technology in Japan.

The Singapore-based startup develops wireless laser technology for internet and data connectivity, with new investment from MPower Partners and continued backing from SEEDS (SG Growth Capital), Kickstart Ventures, NTT Finance, and Golden Egg Ventures.

The funds will accelerate the rollout of its laser communications solutions for emergency response, defense, and space applications in Japan.

Early trials are underway, with pilots and collaborations with local telcos and government.

Transcelestial also operates in other markets, including the US and the Philippines.
