SG veteran AI professor named chief scientist at Sino-Russian univ

Alex Kot, a veteran AI and computer science professor from Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University, has joined Shenzhen MSU-BIT University in China as a distinguished professor and chief scientist.

His appointment was formalized at a ceremony on September 3.

Kot previously led research at NTU and has published over 300 technical papers in fields such as signal processing, biometrics, and AI.

He holds degrees from the University of Rochester and the University of Rhode Island in the US.

Shenzhen MSU-BIT University was established by the Shenzhen government, Lomonosov Moscow State University in Russia, and Beijing Institute of Technology, which is under US sanctions.

The university employs faculty mainly from Moscow State University, with the remainder recruited globally. It offers courses in Chinese, English, and Russian.
