SG VC firm Vertex Growth backs IP provider with $11m
Singapore-based venture capital fund Vertex Growth has committed €10 million (US$11 million) to Dolphin Semiconductor, a company specializing in semiconductor IP solutions.
The funding will support Dolphin Semiconductor’s growth strategy, including R&D, scaling commercial activities, and exploring consolidation opportunities.
The company aims to meet rising demand in industrial, high-performance computing, consumer electronics, IoT, and automotive sectors.
This follows a €26 million (US$29.43 million) investment from Jolt Capital in November 2024.
With backing from both Vertex Growth and Jolt Capital, Dolphin Semiconductor is set to expand its global reach, especially in Asia.

🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ The strategic value of IP in a fast-growing semiconductor market
Dolphin Semiconductor’s funding comes at a pivotal time in the semiconductor IP market, which is projected to grow from $7.5 billion in 2024 to $11.2 billion by 2029 at a CAGR of 8.5%1.
Some research suggests even more aggressive growth, with estimates of 15.1% CAGR through 2034, driven by increasing demand for specialized IP in AI, IoT, and automotive applications2.
Dolphin’s focus on mixed-signal IP, particularly in power management and data conversion, positions them in critical segments as these components are essential in nearly all modern semiconductors.
The company’s development of self-adaptive and battery-less power management technologies directly addresses the industry-wide push for energy efficiency, a key consideration as semiconductor designs become more complex and power-intensive.
This investment pattern reflects the broader trend of capital flowing into specialized semiconductor IP providers who can deliver crucial technology blocks that larger chip manufacturers need but may not develop in-house.
2️⃣ Singapore’s strategic investment reinforces Asia’s semiconductor ambitions
Vertex Growth’s €10M commitment reflects the ongoing strategic importance of semiconductor technology in Singapore’s investment portfolio, with Vertex being anchored by Temasek, a subsidiary of government-owned Temasek Holdings.
This investment comes at a time when Asia-Pacific already dominates the semiconductor IP market with a 52.62% share as of 20213.
